Fall Protection

Falls are the leading cause of fatal accidents.

Each year over 100,000 injuries and deaths are attributable to work-related falls. According to the National Safety Council, falls are one of the leading causes of deaths in the workplace. In addition to permanent injuries and lost lives caused by falls, businesses lose billions of dollars each year from significant increases in insurance premiums, workers' compensation claims, product liability costs, and other related expenses.

The US Department of Labor (DOL) lists falls as one of the leading causes of traumatic occupational death, accounting for eight percent of all occupational fatalities from trauma. Any time a worker is at a height of four feet or more, the worker is at risk and needs to be protected. Fall protection must be provided at four feet in general industry, five feet in maritime and six feet in construction. However, regardless of the fall distance, fall protection must be provided when working over dangerous equipment and machinery.

Several factors have contributed to these alarming and disturbing statistics:

  • All fall protection equipment deteriorates with use and exposure over time, regardless of brand and/or manufacturer.
  • Equipment is not inspected often enough for wear and damage.
  • Proper training is not provided - often, the wrong equipment is selected for a particular situation, and equipment is not worn properly.

Code Red Safety offers a complete line of harness and lanyard equipment (both shock absorbing and self-retracting) for fall arrest. We also provide ladder climbing systems, horizontal lifelines, vertical lifelines, rescue equipment, confined space equipment, and anchorage and connector equipment. We offer only the best in roof anchors, harnesses, lanyards, lifelines, and rescue hoists.
